These days, feeling tired seems to be the norm.

Many people deal with brain fog, low stamina, mood swings, poor sleep, hormonal changes, and a constant feeling of running on empty.

Classical Ayurvedic texts like the Charaka Samhita describe vitality using the concept of Ojas.

ओजः सर्वधातूनां सारः” - Ojas is the supreme essence. Ojas is your body’s deep reserve of strength and the subtle force behind things like force behind:

·    Emotional steadiness

·    When Ojas is strong, your energy feels steady, lasting, and sustainable.

1. Digestion Isn’t Working Efficiently

Ayurveda puts digestion, known as Agni, at the center of good health.

If digestion is weak:

·    Nutrients are not fully absorbed.

·    Toxins (Ama) accumulate.

·    Energy production declines

Modern research also shows a link between gut health and feeling tired.

Gastroenterologist Alessio Fasano famously stated: “All disease begins in the gut.”

While this is a simple way to put it, the message is clear:
If your gut isn’t working well, the rest of your body is affected too.

Energy cannot be sustained without proper nourishment.

 2. Chronic Stress Is Draining Reserves

Stress today is constant — not occasional.

Nobel Prize-winning stress researcher Hans Selye observed:

“It is not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.”

Ongoing stress can throw off your sleep, hormones, mood, immune system, and even your sex drive.

Ayurveda would describe this as aggravated Vata leading to the gradual depletion of Ojas.

If your nervous system never gets a break, your energy can’t recover.

3. Hormones Are Under Pressure

PCOS. Thyroid imbalances. Perimenopausal fatigue. Testosterone decline.

Hormonal imbalances are becoming more common.

Ayurveda explains this through a layered system of nourishment. Reproductive tissues — called Shukra Dhatu (in men) and Artava Dhatu (in women) — are formed last in the body’s tissues. If your digestion and metabolism are weak, your reproductive health can suffer too.

Energy, hormones, and fertility are all closely connected.

Ayurveda doesn’t depend on stimulants to boost energy.

Having more energy isn’t about pushing yourself harder.

It’s about restoring your energy at a deeper level.
